31st Dec: Valencia vs Espanyol Betting Preview

So, we have reached the final day of 2021 and there are only a handful of games taking place around the world today - we are lucky enough to have some action in La Liga to preview for you today.

Yesterday was a poor one in the end, with the referee in the Manchester United game failing to give out a single yellow card, despite the game having an over average number of fouls! Sometimes these things just go against us.

Today we have an interesting encounter between two teams that do not have a lot between them at the moment.

Valencia can finish the year in the top four if they can find a win in this one which will provide strong motivation for the squad. Unbeaten in their last five La Liga games they come into this game in fine form and are yet to lose at home this season, they have however clocked up more draws than wins which is something they will look to resolve today.

When they win at home, they generally keep a clean sheet so that is something to keep an eye on from a betting perspective and may cast a shadow over any potential Both Teams to Score bets.

Espanyol on the other hand come into this game on a more average run of form and in more concerning news they have failed to win any of their last five league away games, collecting just the one point in a 2-2 draw against strugglers Elche back in October - since then it has been four away defeats on the bounce with three of them being by just a single goal.

At this time of year we can often see some funny results but it is hard to look past a home win here and at odds of 1.80 for a Valencia win that is not a bad shout for a bet today.

We like to find some better value than that though so we have instead picked the following as our value bet for the game:

Tip: Valencia - To Win To Nil

Odds: 3.50

Valencia have kept a clean sheet in every win this season and have a low expected goals against in games this season. Combined with the fact that Espanyol are the third lowest scoring away team in La Liga this season with six goals they could struggle to get on the scoresheet again today. At odds of 3.50 we think this bet offers great value.
